Hello! My name is Pilar. I am a high schooler who deeply cares for the environment. I created this blog to act as an advocate for our crumbling environment. My environmentalist journey began in the third grade, my class read a magazine from National Geographic about plastic in the ocean. As we read through it, I was stunned at how badly society treated our Earth. That article flipped a switch on within me. I went down this rabbit hole that opened my eyes to how our earth was dying. Ever since that moment the environment has remained on the forefront of my mind. As I grew older, I began to write essays for writing competitions about our environment, and as I dove deeper into research I slowly realized how many important topics weren’t getting the attention they deserved. About 6 months ago, the idea to start this blog began to bloom. This blog would discuss environmental ethics and sustainability. I kept putting the idea off because of many overwhelming personal factors, but about a week ago, I realized that time is running out to save our oceans, forests, and skies. If I wanted to make a difference, I had to start now.
The Green Ethic is a blog that reflects on the damages happening to our Earth. It also aims to celebrate the beautiful parts of the world that many may not recognize. I want this blog to not only cover the good of the world but the bad and the ugly as well. My goal is to spark action and compassion from others by spreading the urgent truths of our dying world.
